In the 17th century a drink made of lemon juice and lemon infusion was called lemonade. This is why it was called Lemonade (Lemon added). In 1767 English chemist Joseph Pristley invented a device that saturated water with gas and soon trade of carbonated drinks with fruit and berry syrups began.

In 1886 pharmacist and chemists John Stith Pemberton from Atlanta (Georgia, USA) made a caramel-colored syrup, which he took to the largest pharmacy in the city. Initially, syrup cost 5 cents a glass, but shortly the pharmacists began mixing the syrup with carbonated water. This is how now well-known Cola was created.
